Technology driving change for variable data on direct mail and transaction print
Presenter: Greg Balch / Shane Tansey / Ankur Mour
We still think of inkjet as relatively new in the printing industry. However, Inkjet printing has been used for decades to provide the variable portion of direct mail and transactional print such as addresses, barcodes, and personal information. This was an early victory for inkjet. As a result, operational precedents and expectations for digital printing in this market are deeply rooted and often based on the limitations of inkjet as they existed many years ago when the technology was truly new. This session will explore how this has affected the business of direct mail and transactional print, what opportunities might exist when looking at variable data Add-on print modules with a fresh perspective, and how change can be managed when modernizing digital printing in this market. Hear how Fujifilm Integrated Inkjet Solutions is increasing uptime, lowering maintenance needs, and increasing the reliability of variable data inkjet as well as opening new options for color capabilities without having to sacrifice print productivity.

Challenges and opportunities for commercial printers post-COVID
Speaker: Marco Boer
With business and shops closed for many months during COVID, all of our habits changed, including how we buy print. When print is ordered now, it has to be more relevant, more impactful, rather than provide the lowest cost. This means the trend to ever shorter run-lengths accelerated faster, as did the frequency of these ever-smaller orders. In short, there is lots of pressure for commercial printers to find a way to handle these growing jobs more efficiently. Fujifilm's JPress technology complements offset in this regard, as those types of jobs can be shifted from offset which is less efficient at handling small, high frequency print jobs. With the introduction of the latest 5,400 B-2 sheet version of the JPress, commercial printers can now extend the run-length and even replace some offset print. The JPress’s ability to print heavier substrates also allows it to address applications like folding carton printing, opening the door to new, profitable, incremental revenue for commercial printers. In short, JPress is a versatile tool for commercial printers that will help them be successful for years ahead.

A digital imprinting strategy for packaging
Presenter: Greg Balch / Shane Tansey / Jamie Walsh
Though the needs for variable data and personalization in packaging are increasing, the addition of digital presses to existing packaging production lines can sometimes be a daunting change for high volume, high speed production. This panel discussion will explore digital inkjet imprinting and retrofit strategies for packaging, specifically corrugated and folding carton. Existing analog printing equipment often involves sizeable assets customized over time to suit the necessary production environment. In such cases, digital imprinting modules can be added to backfit such equipment with modern high speed inkjet without having to sacrifice production speed or replace sizeable press assets. Hear how Fujifilm Integrated Inkjet Solutions conforms digital to existing processes as an alternative to changing processes to add digital printing.
